Project 52: Week 3

Cold and frosty morningA lovely frosty morning: not the best photo in the world, by any stretch of the imagination.

But a celebration of my new photography philosophy – to capture happy memories and worry less about getting perfect pictures.

Also a celebration of my new phone and its photo-taking capabilities. Hurrah!

A Bit of a Chump

I feel like such an idiot. I’m doing the 52 week project. I’m supposed to be taking at least one really good photo a week. Something that’ll remind me of that week, and any interesting things that I did.

So you’d think – given that I spent half an hour posing for photos outside one of the world’s most famous and recognisable doors on Wednesday – I might have remembered to take a photo of it myself. Even a phone photo.

But I didn’t. I didn’t take a photo of the 10 Downing Street door, or of the Downing Street sign, or of my fellow campaigners.

Instead, the only photo I have from my day in London is this one.

The 52 Week Project: Week 2

I am so pleased! I have found some graffiti in Harpenden!

I don’t know what it says about me that I’ve been missing the scuzzy old painted walls and the illegible tags of Edinburgh, but I have. The 52 Week Project: Week 1

It seems that half the blogosphere are doing the 366 Project this year; the attempt to take a photo every single day in 2012. It’s a brilliant idea, and one I would love to attempt, but I know that it’s too much of a commitment for me. Perhaps if I had a phone with a decent camera I’d give it a shot, but I know that my battered old Nokia isn’t up to the job, and I don’t have the perseverance to take my ‘proper’ camera out with me every day.

Instead I’m going to do the 52 week project, which only requires me to take a photo a week. For accountability’s sake I’ll post it on here every week, but I’m also going to tinker with the rules slightly. Instead of saying that I need to take ‘one photo per week’ I’m saying I need to take photos of ‘at least one thing that isn’t DorkySon or DorkyDad per week’. I do take loads of photos as it is, but they’re almost all of my family. For the purposes of this project, I’m going to try and take photos of different things – objects, places, and other people.

Listography – Best 5 Photos of 2011

Happy New Year! I hope you’ve all had a great time over the holidays.

I managed to stick to my decision to keep away from the blog between Christmas and New Year, but now it’s time to crank my computer back up again and come up with some words. I’m easing myself back in gently with a photo based post that doesn’t require too much chat – The Listography over at Kate Takes 5 this week is your 5 best photos of 2011 – here are mine.
