DorkyMum is a blog about our family life in Tasmania.

I started writing DorkyMum in 2011 – back when I was a stay-at-home-mum living in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was a place for me to share my thoughts on everything from parenting to politics, and poetry to photography. When we moved from Scotland to Hertfordshire in 2011, DorkyMum helped me find lots of new friends. Then, in 2013, we moved from the UK all the way to Tasmania.

I don’t post on DorkyMum as often as I did in the early days, but I still love having a corner of the internet that’s mine – a place where I can write without worrying about the word count. I feel very lucky to have a lovely community of readers who have stuck with me for almost ten years.

Since I started writing DorkyMum, I’ve been a finalist in six national blog awards in the UK, and have twice been a speaker at the BritMums Live conference in London – once as part of a panel discussion about bloggers and charities, and once as a Blogger Keynote.

DorkyMum has been chosen as the Blog of the Week by both Netmums and Mumsnet, as well as featuring on WordPress Freshly Pressed and The Bloggess. My photography has been featured on Pioneer Woman, Manfrotto Imagine More, Shutter Sisters, and both BBC and Guardian Online.
