Project 52: Week 10

Torvil and Dean

This is another of my ‘bad photo – good memory’ entries into Project 52. It’s a sneakily snapped iPhone shot of Jayne Torvil and Christopher Dean at the filming of Dancing on Ice last night, which I went to with DorkyGranny.

I’d never watched the show on television, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a really fun evening. There was lots of banter between the presenters and the judges during the ad breaks, plenty of doughnuts to keep our energy levels up, and we had great seats just a couple of rows from the front, so we had a clear view of all the skaters during their performances.

My only disappointment was not managing to get a pic of Phillip Schofield (even a blurry one!), who I’ve loved since I was about DorkySon’s age – I remember him presenting from the Broom cupboard with Gordon the Gopher!

  1. Oooohhhhhh! Squeeeeeeeee! Not fair!!!!!!
How did you manage to get tickets for that?? I would so love to go – we watch avidly every weekend. I bet last night was fantastic what with the team dance – it looked amazing on TV

    • My Mum knows a guy who works for the folk who organise tickets — but apparently there are email lists you can sign up for where you hear about these things… I’ll see if I can find out for you xx

  2. Matt to win … he comes across nicely on the TV, whereas I’ve not grown to like Jorgie, talented as she is (and utterly good looking … but not as nice as Chemmy). Matt v Jorgie final, with Chico in third.

[Yes, utterly addicted to DoI, as I love Ice Skating ….utterly envious you got to go.]

  3. oh how cool (no pun intended) was that going to see DoI! I remember sitting in my gran’s house watching Torvill and Dean win way back with Ravel’s Balero…and I’m also a child of Gordon the gopher, so with you there!
